Weatherizing & Repair Program

Is Your Home Working for You?

Habitat volunteer teams help existing homeowners decrease energy costs and complete other improvements to make homes more affordable, safer and healthier. Elderly/disabled homeowners are helped with much needed repairs and modifications to improve mobility and independence. These changes make it possible for our older mid coast residents to continue to live where they want to be, at home.

To Participate You Need To:

  • Own your own home or live in a home owned by someone in your family.
  • Live in Lincoln or Sagadahoc County, or the towns of Harpswell or Brunswick in Cumberland County.
  • Have an annual income that is up to 80% of the Area Median Income for your county.

Basic Weatherizing

Buttoning up your home can help prevent heat loss, reduce heating expenses and make you feel more comfortable. Installing weather stripping, door sweeps, blocking leaks around the foundation and using our custom built interior window inserts are some of the ways we help homeowners stay warmer and cut costs.

Critical Home Repairs

Homeowners can have home repair needs that are difficult to address. Necessary repairs can be related to deferred maintenance, damage to areas of a home, or materials wearing out over time. Catching up with these needs can be a real challenge, expensive, and the tasks may be beyond a homeowner’s ability to fix on their own. Habitat’s volunteer teams can help!

Home Modifications

Habitat and our volunteers are helping older and disabled homeowners to remain in their own homes. Habitat is partnering with mid coast communities to provide this help. Work completed for homeowners improves safety, mobility, accessibility and independence. Habitat provides funding for materials, and support for our volunteer teams who complete the work.
