Construction Project Manager

About the Role

This is a hands-on construction leadership position at Habitat for Humanity 7 Rivers. The majority of the work, roughly 70-80% of your time, will be running our Critical Home Repair program: assessing homes, developing scopes of work, coordinating with volunteers and subcontractors, and seeing projects through from first visit to final walkthrough. When we have an active home build, you’ll shift some of your attention there to support site management and construction quality.

This role requires someone who is equally comfortable on a job site and at a kitchen table with a homeowner. You’ll be the face of our repair program for the families we serve, and the day-to-day operational lead for the volunteers and tradespeople doing the work.

What You’ll Do

Critical Home Repair (70-80%)

  • Conduct home assessments with volunteer team leads to identify repair needs across roofing, structural, electrical, plumbing, heating, weatherization, and accessibility
  • Develop detailed work scopes, cost estimates, and construction schedules within project funding limits
  • Prepare and submit permit applications, schedule inspections, and maintain certificates of completion
  • Order materials, manage inventory, and coordinate subcontractor bids and contracts
  • Ensure all subcontractors have W-9s, contractor’s licenses, and certificates of insurance for general liability and workers’ compensation on file before work begins
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for homeowners from initial assessment through project closeout
  • Schedule volunteer crews, communicate project expectations, and ensure volunteers are trained and working safely
  • Track project progress, budgets, and timelines; adjust when things change
  • Ensure all work meets building codes, Habitat quality standards, and safety requirements
  • Code all project receipts in accordance with organizational bookkeeping systems; return or account for unused materials and equipment
  • Maintain accurate project documentation: permits, homeowner records, volunteer logs, and safety compliance
  • Track and report key program metrics including projects completed, cost per project, and homeowner satisfaction

New Home Construction (20-30%)

  • Provide on-site construction leadership during active home builds
  • Lead and supervise volunteer crews of varying skill levels
  • Coordinate schedules with subcontractors and internal staff
  • Maintain job site safety, organization, and cleanliness
  • Ensure work is completed to Habitat’s quality and code standards
  • Maintain certification as a Habitat for Humanity “Competent Person”
  • Identify and assess potential build lots, evaluate site conditions and construction feasibility, and make recommendations to the board on land acquisition and pricing

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • 3-5+ years of residential construction experience with demonstrated ability to manage projects from assessment through completion
  • Working knowledge of building codes, permitting, and inspection processes in Maine
  • Experience managing subcontractors, including bid solicitation and contract oversight
  • Experience leading volunteers or crews with mixed skill levels
  • Strong organizational skills; you’ll be managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites across our service area
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and able to perform physical tasks including climbing and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Preferred:

  • Experience with residential repair or rehabilitation programs, not just new construction
  • Background in a nonprofit or community-service construction setting
  • Familiarity with aging-in-place modifications and accessibility work
  • Degree or certification in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field (we’ll take demonstrated experience over credentials for the right person)

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $60,000-$65,000 per year, depending on experience

Habitat for Humanity 7 Rivers offers a comprehensive benefits package, flexibility in work schedule, and a strong commitment to professional development. You’ll join a collaborative staff team, a supportive Board of Directors, and a welcoming community in Maine’s beautiful Midcoast region.

Community Engagement Coordinator

About the Role

This is a full-time role at the center of how Habitat for Humanity 7 Rivers connects with the community. You’ll manage our volunteer program, support fundraising and events, handle donor data and gift processing, and assist with grant writing and reporting. It’s a varied role that suits someone who is equally comfortable building relationships with volunteers and sitting down to enter gifts accurately in a database. You’ll be a key part of a small, collaborative staff team doing real work in the communities we serve.

What You’ll Do

Volunteer Coordination (30-40%)

  • Actively recruit volunteers from the community, including individuals, faith groups, civic organizations, schools, and businesses
  • Manage the volunteer application and onboarding process, including conducting background checks for all volunteers working in the field
  • Lead volunteer orientations and coordinate role-specific training with program and ReStore staff
  • Schedule and coordinate volunteers across all areas: Critical Home Repair teams, new home construction, ReStore, and office support
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records including hours, contact information, and assignments
  • Plan and execute our annual Volunteer Appreciation Event
  • Develop recognition practices that make volunteers feel valued and keep them coming back
  • Manage volunteer-focused communications including recruitment outreach, scheduling updates, and a regular volunteer newsletter

Development & Data (30-40%)

  • Manage donor data entry and gift processing in Little Green Light, our donor management system
  • Prepare and send timely, accurate gift acknowledgment letters
  • Assist with donor communications including our email newsletter and direct mail appeals
  • Help plan and execute our two signature fundraising events: the Spring Walk to Build and the Love to Build Online Art Auction; responsibilities include logistics, vendor coordination, registration, volunteer support, and post-event follow-up
  • Support general fundraising operations and help track progress toward annual goals

Grants & Communications (20-30%)

  • Assist with grant research, writing, and reporting under the direction of the Executive Director
  • Help compile program data, outcomes, and narrative content for grant applications and reports
  • Support general organizational communications including social media, e-newsletter, and website updates as needed

Operations & Administration (10-20%)

  • Manage day-to-day office functions including correspondence, supply ordering, and general administrative support for the Executive Director
  • Maintain organized filing systems, physical and digital, for organizational records
  • Support board meeting preparation including materials, scheduling, and minute-taking as needed
  • Assist with other organizational needs as they come up in a small, busy shop

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • Experience with a donor management system (examples include Little Green Light, Bloomerang, Salesforce, or similar); we use Little Green Light and will provide training for the right candidate
  • Experience in volunteer coordination, community outreach, or a related field
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to write clearly for multiple audiences
  • Detail-oriented and accurate, especially when entering data and handling donor records
  • Comfortable managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
  • Able to work independently and take initiative without waiting to be told what to do
  • Comfortable working with people from a wide range of backgrounds
  • Discreet and trustworthy with donor and organizational information
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace

Preferred:

  • Experience with Little Green Light specifically
  • Prior nonprofit experience, particularly in a development, volunteer management, or administrative support role
  • Experience with grant writing or grant reporting
  • Event planning or coordination experience
  • Familiarity with Habitat for Humanity’s model and mission
