TITLE: Donor and Volunteer Engagement Specialist
STATUS: Full Time Annual Salary of $50,000

HOURS: 40 hours per week (5 days a week)

The Donor and Volunteer Engagement Specialist identifies, cultivates, and solicits donors, funders, and volunteers to support the Habitat for Humanity 7 Rivers Maine mission. The position is responsible for communicating the needs of the organization through community engagement to attract and retain people and financial resources that fuel Habitat’s work to build local affordable housing solutions.

Essential Functions:

Donor Relations

  • Create and manage development and engagement initiatives that ensure consistency and increase impact.
  • Seek out and develop financial partnerships with churches, businesses, civic groups and individuals.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of the development budget.
  • Lead and manage fundraising events, including annual Spring Walk, and others as needed.

Revenue Management

  • Manage data entry and gift acknowledgment activities
  • Manage and conduct direct mail campaigns
  • Oversee and maintain donor and volunteer database

Volunteer Management

  • Recruit, cultivate, and recognize volunteers across all areas of the organization
  • Receive and process volunteer applications and help guide the orientation and onboarding process
  • Plan and execute an annual Volunteer Appreciation Event

Grant Acquisition and Management

  • Oversee the development of a strong grant pipeline, including foundations, corporations, and government agencies
  • Define strategies for driving grant acquisition and retention
  • Identify, develop, and execute grant applications and the reporting processes
  • Listen with curiosity to uncover and tell stories about the impact of Habitat work on homeowners we serve throughout the grant writing process.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional communications skills
  • Experience and skills managing development and marketing functions.
  • Demonstrable track record of personally identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and closing individual donors, corporations and foundations
  • Demonstrated success in grant writing, relationship building, and fundraising
  • Creative, independent, self-starter able to develop new projects with minimal direct supervision.
  • Strong leadership and management skills; able to effectively supervise and motivate volunteers and encourage team building
  • Independent and effective decision making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Thorough, organized and detail-oriented.
  • Understanding of people with diverse backgrounds
  • Experience in preparation and oversight of budgets.
  • Working knowledge of computers, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database software
  • Maintains a high level of integrity

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with Salesforce administration
  • Experience with major donor development.
  • Familiarity with Habitat for Humanity and a strong desire to promote the mission.

Education and Experience:
At least 2 years of direct experience in non-profit development, marketing, and volunteer management.  BA/BS degree preferred. Volunteer experience preferred.
