TITLE: ReStore Donation Pick-up and Delivery Driver
STATUS: Part Time
REPORTS TO: ReStore Manager
HOURS: 15-20 hours per week
RATE: $18-20/hour

The Habitat for Humanity 7 Rivers ReStore, located in Bath, Maine, seeks someone to drive our 15’ box truck, picking up donated items and occasional local deliveries. The ideal candidate demonstrates a “can-do” attitude, a high degree of flexibility in this ever-changing work environment and readily follow directions. Individuals with demonstrated energy, initiative and efficiency are what we seek.  Having energy, a sense of gratitude and fun are a must!  

 

Overview: 

Habitat for Humanity 7 Rivers Maine is a locally governed non-profit organization focused on improving homeownership opportunities for families with limited incomes as well as repairing, weatherizing and modifying existing homes. Our service area includes Lincoln and Sagadahoc Counties as well as Brunswick and Harpswell, Maine.  

The sale of donated items at the ReStore yields funds needed to build houses and complete repairs and weatherization projects to keep people in their existing homes. Additionally, the ReStore helps keep items out of landfills through the sale of new and used building materials, hardware, appliances, and furniture. The ReStore is home to a large, diverse group of dedicated volunteers who are at the heart of the Habitat for Humanity mission. 

 

Required qualifications: 

Valid Maine driver’s license without violation restrictions
Experience driving a box truck (CDL not required)
Experience with furniture moving/delivery desired
Outstanding customer service skills essential
Must be able to lift; up to 150 lbs. with assistance; up to 50 lbs. solo and overhead
Able to climb stairs, stand, bend, kneel and reach 

 

Responsibilities include but not limited to: 

Pick up donations with a box truck in our regional catchment area and occasionally outside this area.
Securely load/unload donated items in the truck and carefully transport items to avoid damage.
Lifting of 50 lbs. or more repeatedly but with volunteer help and proper tools/lift gate
Ability to screen and receive acceptable donations and politely make rejections of unacceptable items.
Ensure the truck has all the required documentation and equipment.
Assist loading and unloading items from customer vehicles at the ReStore.
Take items that are unsaleable/damaged to the transfer station.
Ensure all unusable items are recycled or disposed of properly.

Assist in assembly and minor repair of donated items.
Keep manager apprised of any issues with donations or truck maintenance.
Other duties as needed and directed by the ReStore Manager 

 

Desired attributes: 

Self-motivated, reliable and exercises sound judgment.
Basic computer skills for Microsoft Office
Enjoys physical work and a relaxed work environment.
Experience and knowledge of basic home repairs and maintenance 
Use of light power tools, hand tools and knowledge of appliances is beneficial as well as a willingness to learn.
Familiarity with the Maine mid-coast region is a big plus.
Background check and clean driving record are required.
Previous paid or volunteer nonprofit/charity experience is a big plus.
